Friday night in the city and a few beers at 119 were consumed. My bike was locked in front and waiting for me like a dog waiting outside a bodega for its owner. Inside We were sorta celebrating Zucks BIRFday, who has finally reached the Christ age. I had other plans for the evening and was waiting for Jenene so we can head off to Union square, the rally point for this months critical mass. So far all others that said they would, wussed out, except those who were actually sick.
it started off slow for a block, practically walking our bikes. we were getting antsy, I wanted to ride. “there are a hell of a lot more people here today then last time” Jenene said. She was right it was thousands. We met up with Adam but lost him in the crown once we passed Virgin Mega-whore. We were off down Broadway, wooping and a-holler’n. Most of the pedestrians were waving and joining our rants.
I love this Bikes Bikes and more bikes taking Manhattan, I love the Black Label guys, their bikes rock, tall bikes low-riders and crazy shit. It was a peaceful ride as in no one got crazy, well till after when a motorcycle cop rode over a bike and from what I hear things got ugly. 250 people got arrested and bike seized, but like I said it was way after.
One thing I loved about that night was riding down times square it was amazing, a sea of bikes taking over times square, the lights the tourists gawking and waving, it was our own Canyon of heros. we snaked all over Manhattan. there was an after party at the frying pan but the police shut it down and they moved it to St marks church. we skipped that part and went to odessa to cool off and get some grub and Criff Dog to meet up with the girlfriend, who was willing to bail me out if arrested, also there were Zuck and the rest of the crew reved up to get some dogs and PBRs.
It was a great night. i’m def gonna do it next month.
